We were thrilled to host the St. John’s Ambulance Badger Fun Day 2024 at Ballyburren Outdoor Escapes, an event tailor-made to bring joy, adventure, and learning to 80 enthusiastic kids. The day was filled with laughter, excitement, and a series of engaging activities that left everyone with unforgettable memories. Here’s a recap of the amazing day we had.
Alpaca Trekking: A Walk with Gentle Giants
Our event kicked off with the much-anticipated Alpaca Trekking. The children had the unique opportunity to walk alongside these gentle and curious creatures, exploring the beautiful landscapes of Ballyburren. Each alpaca, with its own personality, quickly became a favourite among the kids. The trekking not only allowed the children to connect with nature but also taught them about the care and behaviour of these fascinating animals.
Tribal Drumming and Circus: Rhythm and Fun
Next up was the Tribal Drumming and Circus session, which brought a burst of energy and rhythm to the day. Led by experienced instructors, the kids learned the basics of drumming, creating harmonious beats together. The circus segment introduced them to juggling, balancing acts, and fun circus tricks. This activity was a perfect blend of music, coordination, and creativity, leaving the children exhilarated and more connected with their peers.
Forest School: Learning in Nature’s Classroom
The Forest School session provided a wonderful opportunity for the kids to immerse themselves in the natural environment. Guided by our skilled forest educators, the children explored the woods, learning about different plant species, wildlife, and the importance of conservation. Hands-on activities such as building shelters, foraging, and nature crafts helped to foster a deep appreciation for the outdoors. This session was not only educational but also instilled a sense of adventure and curiosity in every participant.
Crafting Sessions: Unleashing Creativity
Our Crafting Sessions were a hit, allowing the children to express their creativity and make keepsakes to take home. With a variety of materials at their disposal, the kids crafted everything from nature-inspired art to personalized souvenirs. The hands-on nature of this activity encouraged imagination and provided a quiet, reflective break from the more physical activities of the day.
