Ballyburren, translated from Irish literally means place of rocks. This is definitely a good description of our 18 acre centre north of the Burren nature habitat and lough. Rocky outcrops, undulating terrain with 5,000 planted trees and restored ponds with many streams traversed by nine bridges. Our beautiful surroundings make any outdoor escape a memorable one.
Ballyburren Outdoor Escapes as a concept, started in 2019 with a planning submission that got the attention of the Belfast Telegraph and Belfast Live newspapers. Landscaping work commenced early 2019 to restore overgrown ponds. A 1.4km pathway around the lands also started and completed three years later with over 400 tonnes of stones used. Over 4,000 trees were planted in 2002 with a further 1,000 planted in recent years with the help of the small woodland grant. Nature and the environment is a vital part of who we are and we look forward to you enjoying our special surroundings too.
